2008 Tour of Homes Instructions and Map

The Tour is available from 10 AM until 5 PM.

General Information

The St. Simons homes and other tour points of interest can be visited any time during the tour period from 10 AM to 5 PM.  If we are holding tickets for you, Will Call is located at the Gascoigne Bluff hospitality center. The homes on Sea Island are only accessible by taking a bus which leaves from the Gascoigne Bluff hospitality parking lot located at the west end of Hamilton Road (See map below). The busses can be boarded during the time period indicated by the color of the wrist band that you received in your brochure.  Please have these ready to present to the bus docents.

orange 10:00 a.m. - 12:00
dark blue 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
white 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

We suggest that you plan your day by visiting the St. Simons locations either before your Sea Island bus departure or after you return. Remember .... your Tour Day begins at 10:00 a. m. and you will find that you need the entire day to completely finish the tour. The last bus leaves for Sea Island at 3:00. As a courtesy to our homeowners, the Tour ends promptly at 5:00 p.m.

This year, we offer 9 stunning tour stops, including the hospitality of our beautiful Tour Headquarters at the parish house of Christ Church. Most of the private homes are quite expansive with staircases and long driveways. Additionally, there is a short walk to each Sea Island home. High heels are not permitted for the protection of the hardwood floors in the homes and cameras are not permitted for security reasons.

Tea sandwiches, cookies and beverages will be available at Christ Church. The historic church itself will be open with docents on duty and the Wesley Gardens are just across the street. There will also be restroom facilities at the Gascoigne Bluff hospitality center and also at the Christ Church parish house. Cookbooks and other memorabilia will also be available for purchase.

Sea Island Stops

The Sea Island homes can only be visited by bus and no private cars will be allowed past security. We do recommend that you allow at least 2 1/2 hours to tour all three Sea Island homes. The ride from Gascoigne to Sea Island is approximately 15 minutes and we will have a volunteer docent on each bus to give you a short talk and answer any questions that you may have. There are no restroom facilities available on Sea Island.

St. Simons Tour Stops

There are Tour Marker signs located at various intersections on St. Simons and a Tour Marker (with the Stop Number) located near the turn to each Home. There will be volunteers at these stops to help you find a parking spot. Also, you can ask the volunteers to give you directions to the next home on your route.

                                                     Locator Maps

Christ Church and the Tour Bus start point are marked on the maps below.  To find the Tour Bus start point come to St. Simons on the Torras Causeway, turn left at the first traffic signal onto Sea Island Road, then (after only a few hundred yards) turn left again at Hamilton Road to the Gascoigne Bluff Hospitality Parking lot and Tour Bus start point. There will be Tour Marker signs at these turns.

To reach Christ Church don't turn at Hamilton Road but continue on Sea Island Road to the next traffic signal. Turn left at the Sea Island/ Frederica Road traffic signal and follow Frederica Road to Christ Church. After about 2.5 miles you will enter a traffic circle and will need to take the 2nd exit to continue on Frederica Road.

If coming from another city, take I-95, US 17 or US 341 to Brunswick, Ga., and then travel over the Torras Causeway to St. Simons Island.
